5 movies to look out for at Comic-Con 2014
The panels have been organised, special guests booked, surprises are ready to be sprung and the costumes? They were ordered months ago. This can only mean one thing; Comic-Con 2014 takes place this weekend in San Diego.
The schedule for the 4-day event is already looking jam-packed, and movie buffs await what is traditionally a big weekend for announcements, clips, casting and trailers. With so much to see throughout this year’s convention, we’ve picked out 5 movies that are worth keeping an eye on.
1) Marvel’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron
Marvel’s Comic-Con panel is set to take place in Hall H on Saturday from 5.30pm. Exactly what they’ll be showcasing is being kept very hush-hush, but you can be fairly confident that the new Avengers movie will feature. Age of Ultron is slated for a summer 2015 release, so by now you’d expect them to be sitting on reels of great footage. We can’t wait to get a first glimpse.
2) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
The Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles are back! The new movie is set to be released on August 8, so you’ve probably already seen the trailer (below) – you may even have listened to the rap song? A career highlight for all involved.
So what’s left to show at Comic-Con? At this stage we’d be expecting to see a substantial chunk of footage in San Diego, and it looks like they’ve also lined up a special pizza-throwing surprise.
3) Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice
Warner Bros have already announced the line-up for their presentation at this year’s Comic-Con, which is notable for the absence of these two caped heroes. That doesn’t mean they won’t appear, though, and we’d be very surprised if the studio sends fans home without a glimpse of its hotly anticipated superhero showdown. For now, you’ll have to make do with the Lego version.
The Ant-Man movie has been having its fair share of struggles recently – none greater than its director Edgar Wright jumping ship following creative differences. What better way to drum up some good press than a killer promo at this year’s Comic-Con? Michael Douglas, who stars in the movie, revealed that it will have a presence in Marvel’s panel – that’s in Hall H on Saturday from 5.30pm, remember?
5) Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame To Kill For
And finally, the second instalment of Frank Miller’s Sin City. The first movie was a big fan favourite, so the pressure is on for the sequel’s co-directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller himself. They’ll be in San Diego to show footage from the film on Saturday at 2:50pm, again in Hall H. Watch the trailer for the movie below.
