The 3D Printer designed for everyone
Over 3,000 backers with weeks to go
We think this will be big. Why? Because the compact Micro 3D Printer smashed through its $50,000 Kickstarter funding goal in just 11 minutes.
Billed as ‘the first truly consumer 3D printer’, M3D – the company behind the project – claims it is the most affordable device of its kind and one that can be used right out of the box. A compact size (a cube of 7.3-inches per side) and a weight of roughly 2.2lb also mean it’s very desk-friendly.
What else makes it special?
Two years in the making, the manufacturer claims it’s also the quietest 3D printer ever made, as well as boasting the lowest power consumption. It can be used with any Windows, Mac, or Linux-based system and supports materials such as ABS and PLA plastics, Nylon and more.
‘As enjoyable as a game’
As for software, M3D says it has been designed to be ‘as interactive and enjoyable as a game’. Simply search for objects online, drag them into the printer on-screen and hit print. Advanced users have the option to tweak models as they see fit. A ceramic heater achieves rapid high temperature.
Assembled by hand in the USA, shipping of Micro 3D Printers will begin in August.
