This is the future of Photoshop and it looks amazing
Up until now Photoshop for touchscreen has felt like an afterthought to supplement its desktop suite, but the future looks bright for Adobe’s digital design studio.
In a new concept video (above) the company has outlined its vision for the tablet version of Photoshop, as well as its Illustrator and Premiere apps. The teaser clip should leave designers mesmerised, showcasing new touch-specific features including gesture commands as well as easier zoom, pan and rotate options.
As reported by The Verge, Adobe’s presenter commented at the company’s Los Angeles event: “When we started to explore touch, we knew that we would have to radically shift the user interface.”
Perhaps the most exciting shift is a new feature called Adobe Playground, which allows users to simply and quickly interact with layers – as if by magic. The demonstration is a true designer’s dream, showing video components being picked up and moved around with minimal fuss, and then seamlessly played back in their new positions.
While Adobe’s video is just a concept at this stage, the company’s long overdue commitment to touchscreen comes as very welcome news. Take your first impressions to the comment box and let us know what you think!
