Introducing Goat Simulator – the ‘goatiest’ game of all time?

This year’s hottest new game is a good old-fashioned simulator. So, is it a train? Is it a plane? Nope, it’s Goat Simulator, the game that literally nobody has been waiting for and yet we can’t seem to take our eyes off.

Ever wondered what the world looks like from a Goat’s-eye view? Of course you have, but now you don’t have to thanks to this third-person Windows sim from the Swedish-based Coffee Stain Studios.

By the studio’s own admission Goat Simulator is a “small, broken and stupid game” which was made in “a couple of weeks” – but don’t let that put you off. Its many bugs and general shoddiness is all part of the appeal – poking fun at other simulators and gaming trends along the way. In one part of the game, for instance, you can play a Flappy Goat mini-game – which is borderline impossible but will earn you an achievement if you manage to score more than ten.

You can also do this…

For a simulator, it’s not exactly winning any points for realism. Admittedly, Team Goat Explore hasn’t farmed a single real-life goat between us, but some of the ‘stunts’ featured in the game involve jet packs – and we’ve definitely never seen a goat with a jet pack.

Even so, Goat Simulator is winning over hearts and minds, with a port of the game in development for Mac and Linux too. The game even has its own Wiki detailing all the quirks and glitches in all their glory – yes, that includes Robo-goat and Giant Goat.

So, how do you get involved? Goat Simulator is available via Steam for just $9.99. Alternatively, you can follow its makers own advice and spend your hard-earned money on something else. Like a hula hoop, a pile of bricks, or even a real-life goat.
