Say ‘cheese’ for the selfie-taking mirror
Get ready for your close up
We may have just discovered the most narcissistic invention of all time – a mirror that takes selfies. And we love it.
The S.E.L.F.I.E., which is short for “Self Enhancing Live Feed Imagine Engine”, is a two-way mirror that automatically takes photos of you and posts them on Twitter.
How does this vital home amenity work?
The S.E.L.F.I.E. consists of a hidden Mac mini, a webcam and LED lights embedded behind the mirror. All you have to do is stand in front of it and smile; facial recognition software on the Mac recognizes you and initiates the photography process while the LED lights tell you when to expect the shot.
After the selfie is taken, the software sticks your logo onto the snap and shares it on Twitter.
Whether a selfie of you in your bathroom first thing in the morning will get more retweets than Ellen DeGeneres’ record-breaking Oscar photo is up for debate, but at least you won’t have your outstretched arm in shot.
It’s just an experiment at this stage, but you can contact iStrategyLabs if you want one.
