Future Tech:

Futuristic jet has a window seat for everyone!

Did you get the window seat? Oh yeah I forgot! No windows!

Did you get the window seat? Oh yeah I forgot! No windows!

We all feel a little jealous of the people who get the window seat on a flight. A bird’s eye view of the world unfolding below is far better than a view of the closed curtain into business class, and with IXION Windowless Jet Concept by Technicon Design we might just have a solution to please everyone – no more windows and views for all.

“The ethos of the project is simple, to challenge current thinking, and propose something a little different, but not just a fantasy. It has to be credible and relevant, yet provoke discussion,” design director Gareth Davies states in a press release.

Camera tricks

The concept, proposed by the Parisian-based company, suggests a plane that will feature cameras installed on the exterior. The interior of the plane will be dressed with 360-degree high resolution displays that will offer real time action of the outside scenery.

“I challenged the team to break out of conventional thinking with regards to a business jet exterior and interior,” Davies said to the Daily Mail. “Whilst defining the concept sketches for the exterior, I asked the rest of the team to start thinking about interior concepts and what we could do differently.”

The displays would be powered by solar panels installed on the outside of the plane. If you are flying through the night and the real time picture captured by the cameras is one of impenetrable darkness, the screens can be used to show beautiful scenic pictures of forests or cities, creating a virtual reality to please the passengers.

Can you imagine what could follow if the windowless technology is perfected? Driverless cars? Houses? Trains? The possibilities are endless!
