Future Tech:

Fuffr smartphone case turns any surface into a trackpad

Out of all the phone cases on the market today, how are you supposed to differentiate between them? What element of a case makes for the greatest selling point?

How about one that lets you turn any flat surface into a trackpad for your smartphone?

Fuffr is a project led by a group of tech guru’s in Sweden, who are hoping to change the way we interact with our smartphones. Gone are the days of awkwardly trying to navigate the delicacies of a touchscreen, and for those of you who have been gifted with a more industrial-sized hand, Fluffr has to be music to your ears.

With the Fuffr case, you can set your smartphone down on any flat surface which will in effect become a trackpad for the phone. As the video below shows, you can maneuovre your way around certain applications in what looks like pretty seamless fashion.

The guys behind Fuffr are hoping that more developers can create new games and apps using their brand spanking new user interface, a model that sets the gesture-motion bar pretty high, especially when it comes to its use on the smartphone market.

The phone case market has been responsible for some true innovation lately, even going as far as making smartphone case printing a possibility. But the Fuffr is the first of its kind, using bluetooth technology to sync the phone to the surface. The developers also claim that combining a number of surfaces can create more advanced controlling experiences.

The Fuffr is yet to be released, and continued work and collaboration between developers could make this the smartest phone cover we’ve ever seen.
