Science:

What if the earth stopped spinning?

It’s easy to forget that – even as we carry out mundane daily tasks – the Earth is spinning at hundreds of meters per second. Why don’t we feel its movement? And what would happen if it suddenly stopped?

These are just two of the questions answered by the ever curious Michael Stevens, aka Vsauce, whose latest video was submitted to us by a GoExplore reader.

Some of the answers are unexpected – for instance, we’d all put on weight. None of that really matters though, because we’d all die horrific deaths as everything on earth is flung in the same direction at more than 1,000 miles per hour. Ouch.

Even if you somehow managed to survive the biggest natural disaster in human history, what remains of Earth would be flooded or burned up by enormous fires. In short, watch the video above, and keep your fingers, toes and everything else crossed that the Earth keeps spinning as it’s supposed to.
